question about the paper.

Hey guys-

Hope everyone had a good holiday weekend. I would guess I am not alone in doing a lot of homework today and I had a question. I want to do my paper on health guidelines at one of the 2 places I worked. It has come down to either a movie theatre chain or legal sea foods.  Legal sea foods has more, polices them a lot more, has an entire department that has surprise inspections of all the restaurants. There are also a lot of breaking of the rules, but not as much as the movie theatre. I am leaning towards legal sea foods, but let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Lee

I personally thinkg that the food regulations around Legal Seafoods will be more interesting. Not only is it a bigger chain, but their main focus is food, fresh fish none the less, which is sure to come with its fair share of strict regulations. There will probably be more material to search through for that topic and you worked there, so you can talk about where the rules were applied and where the weren't. On another note I love Legal Seafoods so that paper might ruin it for me :o(

I actually have a question about my paper as well. I wanted to do fair trade coffee and /or food in general. However, I don't know what I should focus on as my main arguement
1. not focus on any side in particualr, just tocuh on both the pro's and con's of fair trade foods.
2. Argue that fair trade food is beneficial, which I have a lot of information for, but seems a little obvious.
3. Argue that fair trade food is a negative thing, which there is a lot of information on as well, but I feel unethical doing that side!

thoughts?...

Actually Lee, I think focusing on the movie theatre health situation would be really cool, since that is a topic that affects a much larger demographic, and it would be really hard hitting because most everyone's had movie theatre popcorn or slushies at some point. Also, within that topic, you could talk do some research on the varying standards of the different chains of theatres, maybe put together a top 5 worst/best list, which could be interesting.

For Talia, I think that initially, in your research you should start looking for pros and cons of both, and then I'm sure after a bit of looking into it in depth, you'll probably form your own personal opinion on the subject. Its cheesy, but if you go with that, your argument will be much more connected and real because you won't just be proving a point thats assigned to you...if that makes any sense?

I'm kind of interested in the movie theater chain. I mean it sounds like you've got a lot more info on the Legal Seafood chain, but who ever considers food regulations in a movie theater. It just sounds like a really good topic that I would love to read about. Also movie theaters have gotten better food than they had when I was little. It used to just be popcorn...now you can get just about anything. Either way good luck Lee. Your paper looks like it's going to be a lot of fun whichever choice you choose.
